Gas migrating up the control system impedes the operator’s ability to isolate hydrocarbons in the well when the downhole safety valves (DHSV) are closed; creating risk to personnel, the environment and the plant. The GiiV allows continued, safe production in wells that demonstrate compromised control line integrity by stopping gas migrating up the control line when DHSV’s are shut.

The GiiV is positioned close to the wellhead, typically alongside the local panel, and connects directly into the control system. The GiiV operates in complete autonomy, driven only by integral system pressure. For example, during an emergency shut down, the GiiV switches into a non-return valve, activated system pressure. The GiiV will automatically reopen during the re-pressurisation of the control system, allowing operations and production to continue.
